Toy shop modern vehicle review
« on: November 28, 2023, 03:11:52 PM »
First apologies for posting picture of unpainted/unfinished figures but all could find at short notice.
20mm figure on left, 28mm on right.

Wanted to start this before Christmas so still got chance to buy.

Hopefully gamers will add to this and review other vehicles that can be used in modern conflicts, but on the cheap. So no expensive collectors ranges or true scale resin models.

First up and has been posted before. Diecast city coach.
Christmas 2023 currently available in Asda £3, same vehicle different brand and packaging The Entertainer £6.

Dimensions 185x36x45mm.
Shown as die cast, only body, windows & roof plastic. Window dividers painted on plastic.

Diecast cars from the Pixar Cars movies are still available in toy stores.

The Cars toys are close to 1/56, see comparison with a nominally 1:43 Mercedes:

Good stuff there.

Note to self - go to Menards and see what they have now for diecast vehicles...

I’ve notice that vehicles sold as children’s toys all do the same thing. Their commercial vehicles ie lorries, buses etc are all narrower in width than their cars. When real vehicles are the other way around.  :(

I went to a Menards yesterday.  Picked up another ambulance, a dump truck, and a fuel truck, all labelled as 1/48 and $5 each.  I'll post pics here in a few days in my "Modern Stuff" thread (along with my latest batch of late 1980s/1990sUS infantry.

Corgi plaxton 3500 shuttle bus.
Size 178x40x52 mm.
I picked this up for £8 as in damaged box so collectors don’t want it.
20 & 28mm figures shown for scale.

Really liking the buses you've found.
My bus is a 1/60 m-2000 that I picked up cheap used.

The big name supermarkets in U.K. have started their toy clearance reductions today. Upto 50% off. Regrettably the only ones I found were high performance cars. No good for me.

So when your dragged out on that last food shop that you don’t really need, make an excuse and disappear down the toy isle, May find a last minute goody.

Good hunting.
