Welcome to the jungle
« on: 10 December 2023, 03:51:29 PM »
The Resource Development Administration not only mines for unobtanium on Pandora but also on other planets where the natives don't appreciate their activities. A technical malfunction has forced an RDA gunship to make an emergency landing in the jungle. The RDA is sending a power armoured taskforce to recover the pilot and repair the gunship if possible. The natives hurry towards the landing site to retrieve munitions, weapons and ordnance from the gunship

The RDA managed to repel the natives and save both the pilot and the gunship.

Very cool -- I like the scenario. The board and figures look great!  :-*

Interesting game, looks brilliant in the photos. Very cool looking conversion of the heavy weapon on the “natives‘ beast of burden.”

I shall mourn the falling of the robot. Brave lad!

Just don't tell my grandchild I failed to give a cheer for the not-Pandorans...  ;)

Thanks so much, really looked like fun!

Thanks people!

Very cool looking conversion of the heavy weapon on the “natives‘ beast of burden.”

Thx, it's a GW Krootox with the usual upper part (gun held by a Kroot warrior torso with head) replaced by a twin machine gun (from some bitsbox, I think it's a GW gorkamorka ork bit) and a plastic Kroot warrior upper body, head and arms.

I'm still looking for suitable models to serve as pack animals for the Kroot. The "official" greater Knarloc laden with supplies from Forgeworld was insanely expensive and no longer available I think. I really like the Anyaral models (but am reluctant to order from a non IOSS british shop). Suggestions for EU friendly sources for suitable alien looking pack animals are most welcome.

I highly recommend Mike Thorp (Anyaral). I understand your reluctance however I am in Germany and bought from him a couple of times this year with no problem. Not cheap but less expensive and in my opinion better than Forge World.

A fun looking game. I've always liked the kroot, a very versatile alien.

Thanks, nice looking indeed! And these are also available from an EU seller: miniaturicum.de

That sounds promising. I might also try Anyaral. Especially since he has more creatures available which would fit in a scifi scenario.

I was going to suggest the path that others have taken to roll their own big K's...

T-Rex, though if you want the parrot bill theme, bit of work there.

Now that I think more, seems there were 'billed' therapods, but might be tricky to find as a model.

If going four-legged, maybe a Void Terrasaur? Not terribly high priced last I looked.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

For the Kroot I think will go for these pack animals (small enough for jungle terrain):

http://shop.worldoftwilight.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_14_11&products_id=87

and these predators to fit in with the avian Kroot theme:

I'll most likely also order the crooked dice sandtreader for less dense terrain.
