This is the Lucasfilm way: The Mandalorian is coming to the big screen

The company on Tuesday announced that director Jon Favreau will produce and direct “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” a movie spinoff of the popular Disney+ series, starring Pedro Pascal.

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” Favreau said in a statement. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

I just saw this online and am rather happy about it  :D

I think I prefer Jon’s work to David’s going on what’s been released so far.

I suppose I better make room for all the new terrain I’ll be persuaded to make  lol
cheers

No matter how it turns out; this will finally be one to go to the theatre for again.  And think of the merchandise that will be discounted six months after! Hopefully loads of toys to repurpose for us wargamers ;)

You know it makes sense...  :D

Sadly, they won't do what they should do with the saga.

Much of the Mandalorian's story is based off the Finnish Kalevala ( which was the name of the planet Bo Katan was on). In that story, a child is taken by raiders and raised as one of them. He eventually leaves to find his family, and get vengeance on those who he perceives as wronging him. During the course of his adventures he gets a black bladed sword. He finally learns the people who raised him were the people who killed his family. He also finds his sister and has a romance with her.

All the elements are there in the Mandalorian, but no way are they having Din Djarin take the darksabre and he and Grogu go on a murder spree killing all the Mandalorians. I surmise the woman he met in season 1 was supposed to have been his sister, but they never went back there.

hmmm... rumours that the new "film" idea has been cobbled together because of delays with the new Rey film, and that the Mando "film" could effectively be the last two episodes of Season 4 shown as a movie...so we get a shortened Season 4, and then a "film".

I just hope that they don't screw this up.

Akula, I feel that that isn’t necessarily a bad thing- Mando works well for a more episodic format, so I’d personally enjoy that (as long as the writing is better than what we had in Season 3, of course)

there may be elements, but it's shown that battle droids were responsible for orphaning Djarin and it's highly unlikely that woman on the rice paddy planet was going to be his sister (and considering his age when he was orphaned, he'd be aware if he had a sister).

Hopefully, Disney doesn't turn this into some sort of soppy puppet show...

Thread is a bit of a rollercoaster, and probably rightly so.

Hopes high, expectations low.

There are a lot of elements. And consider this...a child, going through traumatic events....wouldn't silver clad Mandalorians be easily mistaken for droids?
