Painting an MDF 'French' cafe sort of thing...
« on: 15 January 2024, 03:26:19 PM »
I bought one of these of TT Combat kits and am trying to paint it... just wondering if anyone has any completed ones to inspire me? It'll be my first MDF building that I've painted so be gentle... so much filling  :-I

That looks like a very nice kit. Unfortunately I do not have it so have nothing to offer except "have fun".  :)

This is not a TTCombat kit but a fairly undetailed Chinese "puzzle" that I purchased off eBay. Anything that you can do to add texture will benefit you in the end. Also, "filled" areas will mostly disappear after undercoating so don't worry about them over much.

Here was the original kit.

@ marianas_gamer that looks great. I noticed those puzzle kits a while back.

Well, it's kind of finished for now. Should have spent more time prepping I think. I've bought a second to go with it that is currently being painted.  Quality control seems to be a bit of a thing as various parts were missing in both. I also picked up a football stadium seating thing that had a numbers of wrongly cut pieces. Nothing insurmountable but a little annoying!

I think it looks good. I prefer Sarissa Precision over TT Combat, in general. Most SP kits have removable roofs or second levels for gaming, while that is not always the case for TT Combat. As far as prepping, I find that adding in textures makes MDF buildings look less generic. I would do this step after assembly.

For a way over the top texturing and modifying I've done, check out my post-apocalytpic mobile home.... lol

Nice job on the cafe, though!

That looks quite nice :) I'd grab a coffee and a croissant there without hesitation.

What are your plans for it, big diorama or gaming scenery?

A croissant at the cafe, for sure. At the post-apocalyptic trailer, not so much! They both look quite good for their respective settings (and a little disturbing next to each other in the thread).
