Well, just make sure the Powder River Patrol keeps their powder dry!

Looking forward to seeing the results shared here when ready.  Sooner of course is better!  lol. But, then again, patience is its own reward.  Or so they say.  And who the heck is 'they' anyway?  :D

Hmm, now you've got me thinking on how to name the local bank (or banks).  I've already got a name for my Old West railroad: Tentacle and Monopoly Western Rail Road (TMWRR).

Since that photo was taken - and a bunch more pieces of track added - I've painted the track so it looks a lot better, at least to me.  Painting what must have been thousands of ties (sleepers) was a bit of a chore but dry brushing is a life saver.

The Powder River Patrol game's almost set up.
Many moons ago at Sheffield's Triples Wargames Show, there was a brilliant participation game called 'A Run in Zululand'. Based on the fate of France's Prince Imperial, Who got well assagied after his patrol was ambushed by Zulus.
Playing it, my mind wandered, thinking how easily it could be converted to a Cavalry and Indians game. The Cvalry patrol is investigating an abandoned Wigwam, when it's ambushed. The patrol must mount up, gallop the length of the table, and negotiate the Canyon of Death to escape. Problem is, the table will rapidly fill with bronzed, warpainted savages, looking to give 'em a scalpin'!

The Powder River patrol had been pushing their horses hard, bringing the word to settlers. to make their way to Fort Stark, Corporal Blaine made the call to unsaddle, hobble and feed their mounts, while they investigated the abandoned village...

"Corporal, looksee!"

Shouted Trooper Twoflags.

"Hell!"

Replied the Corporal.

"Saddle and mount up boys. I'm a suspicioned we'll be makin' us a rapid ree-treat!"

The outcome of this 'ere shindig may well come down to the power of the single action .45 calibre Army Colt. The cards too may well prove a cruel Mistress. And not every snake, slithering along the Canyon of Death, has two legs!

I know you asked about 28 mm but a local 3D print guy found me some nice 15 mm snakes which I expect could be printed in any scale - and in the mix were some good ones to use as rattle snakes, the bane of the west.  And, no, I don't know his source and his health is challenged these days or I'd ask him to see if he remembers.  (Also a nice cobra in the mix but not useful in plains wars).

And were you not planning on going whole hog into 15 mm to max out the rules?

Oh, and I checked Irregular and all they had was a totem pole which doesn't really match to the plains wars but they did have some 28 mm villagers, more Apache than plains war looking to me but adaptable.

Like the smoke signals - though you should rough them up a bit and adjust the color to a little bit of gray mixed with the white and that would really improve the look.

The 15mm Pony Wars is still in the pipeline. I'm thinking 28mm Indian scatter terrain, will be better scratchbuilt.
