1/600 Arab/Israeli aircraft 1948
« on: 10 March 2024, 08:44:50 PM »
Painted up some Israeli and Egyptian aircraft for the 1948 air war. I was inspired to tackle the project after reading Angels in the Sky by Robert Gandt which is an awesome account of the early days of the Israeli Air Force. There's also a documentary called Above and Beyond which interviews some of the pilots involved. The aircraft are 1/600 from Tumbling Dice and the rules are Desert Spitfires, a free bonus ruleset from Tumbling Dice's Wings At War range.

Nicely done, it is a fascinating little campaign. You have to love B17 raids escorted by "Me109s" being attacked by Spitfires.

Thanks Rob, much appreciated. I have a B17 that I will need to paint up some proper bombing runs by the 69th squadron!

Completely unrelated but I was just drooling over your 15mm Mike's Models based for Liber Militum's Tercios. I'm getting prepared to play my first game of Tercios and was looking for battle reports and reviews. I saw yours and those beautiful MM armies.

They were one of my first loves and I still have a shoe box filled with various Renaissance armies. One day I will paint them up.

Thanks, MM have an enduring charm. A shoebox full is a tidy stash.
Tercios is a great set of rules that deserves much better coverage, IMHO the best option out there for battle scale pike & shot warfare.

Glorious  8)

Always great to see unusual games - one of the big plusses of LAF is the huge range of periods and scales
