Finally got round to sitting down and getting some paint on the beginnings of a ACW project that I'd purchased in January. Needless to say the inspiration hit. I managed to crank these out in just a couple of weeks.

So first up we've got a whole block of men from the 1st Texas (Ragged Old First), part of Hoods Brigade, who generally at the onset of the war were carrying old 1842 smoothbores. I believe even towards the battle of Antietam they were still carrying a wide array of dated weaponry. I think this was the most fun I've had painting figures for a long time and I absolutely stormed through these. I've mixed the poses/kits to represent a forward moving unit, one looking to close the gap and send some buck and ball into Union ranks.

I'll be adding another 3 groups to represent the 4th Texas and at some point 3rd Arkansas.

Next is some Confederate Zouaves (Wheats Tiger Rifles) in their outrageously cool blue striped pantaloons. Surprisingly these weren't a pain in the backside to paint, and I think the stripes came out decently with minimal effort and touch ups. An additional 8 more with a flag at some point will appear.

As usual I'll be using Sharp Practice and campaigning this on my blog towards the fall/winter, once I've amassed a sizeable force.

Finally got around after lots of dabbling in and out of projects and life getting in the way to get my starting Confederate Forces completed for a Sharp Practice Project. What we have here represents part of the Texas Brigade (prior to Antietam). I believe the 3rd Arkansas were swapped in after 1862.

1st, 4th Texas and 18th Georgia.

I'm finishing up a Confederate Artillery crew and tackling the remaining Union at the moment. So far we have the 69th New York and I'll be working on another block and then some 114th Pennsylvania Zouaves. Painting Confederate Uniforms never seems to get boring, very glad I took the dip into this period.
