More Hypaspists at the Charge
« on: May 25, 2024, 12:25:17 PM »
I’ve added another couple of bases to these and tried to give them a focal point with a snazzy leader. He’s based on the Agios Athenasios tomb paintings, with shields and helmet borrowed from other figures in the frieze. The helmet he’s wearing is converted to look like the one found in Phillip’s tomb (carefully not saying which Phillip; there is some dispute!)

Also a shot of the trumpeter hiding in the second rank, also from the same source and a group shot of all three bases together.

Pretty much. The principal leaders head is a mash up of one of the Greek heads with the nasal removed and a flat crest added from filing down a normal Phrygian helmet top. I cut a slot in the Greek head and stuck it all together. Both his head and the trumpeter had feathers added from donor helmets. Most everything else is as you identified.
