Some of my miniatures

Actually they are the only ones I have painted so far. I'm quite satisfied with the result but there is always room for improvement.
I haven't finished the bases yet. At the moment I don't really know what they should look like (I want to use them in Back of Beyond games).



I have to practise with the different shades of a colour, the blue jacket is a nice result. The pilots coat looks nice in real life but on the picture there seems to be little contrast between the different shades of brown.
Maybe it is just my lack in photographing skills, I borrowed a camera to take this picture.

Here's mine, see any similarities! The skin tone is a bit off because I used a flash when I probably shouldn't have as it tends to wash out the real colours:



These are great figures from Artizan too btw, I just wish they had more Arab gentlemen in their range. I own those other figures too but haven't painted them to date.

A black suit? In the Egyptian sun! Madness!

I originally wanted to try for a dark blue pin stripe but that turns out to be far too ambitious.

After a prime and base coat the figures are ink washed which I paint over. The image isn't very representative of what they actually look like unfortunately. The bases look nothing like that for example.

Anyway, you can't go lurking in the shadows dressed all in white.

If it's of any interest.....my original thought was to give them white or off-white clothing but I thought that this might be a bit too much of a cliche.

The guy with the Thompson is obviously a minder / henchman figure.....so I gave him a black suit so that he can watch the door at his bosses night club.
The older guy is naturally enough the leader and night club owner. He wants to be a bit more "traditional" so got a white jacket. But he's not in the club tonight....maybe he's got some business down at the docks or at the airport - hence the casual shirt. The other guy with the pistol has spent a little too much time with Westerners and sports a snappy green safari jacket.
I gave these last two figs dark trousers so that all three figures have a coherent, "together" feel.
Well that was the plan anyway.

Nice figures Squint.

These are great sculpts from Artizan. In particular I like their very distinctive Egyptian/ME faces and facial hair.

What is really missing from the Artizan Thrilling range is a portly Arab in fez and cummerbund if you ask me...
