Ronin in small scale
« on: May 30, 2024, 08:33:16 AM »
Returning to Ronin after a hiatus but decided to try a smaller scale.
I thought about using 15mm but old eyes need something a bit bigger so I went with 20mm

Here is my first 100pts Koryu Buntai

All conversions of the Excellent B&B miniatures range

Lots of character, I like those and the muted colors a lot!

I shall follow this thread with the utmost interest. A key reason being the unusual choice of scale. I must say the 20mm B&B figures bear a passing similarity to the 25mm ones by Dixon Miniatures. Both ranges clearly have a lot of character.

I also see that Blotz has a dedicated 20mm range of MDF scenery for Japan. I would very much like to see how your terrain collection progresses.

They are great figures, bit tough to repose but a great base to add some extra detail. Not sure I'm going down the MDF road yet

I want to try an Oshiro building or two first as I like a compact board

The first two terrain pieces are 15mm too being from Alternative armies

Is where I first saw them, and how they look before I modified them

There are Shogun series and 7 samurai characters as well as the usual monks, ronin bandits and military figures

It's a well rounded set I was surprised they see such little attention

No worries, I'm only picked up one pack so far, the Samurai in Kamonos, I've a pack of the Ronin on order.

Each pack has 4 basic poses but they have different heads and open hands foe different weapons, katana, naginata bows etc.

So for example I made these three unique by angling the arms/hands

This pair had heads at different angles so apart from a bit of filing to angle the weapons differently All I did to change them up was to add a straw hat on one and a gourd and back sling pack on the othet

Run out of figures until the next order arrives so will chip away at the terrain until then
