[Minairons] Retiring, finally
« on: June 24, 2024, 10:02:47 PM »
Well, retirement is a river everyone must cross, one day or another - and such day has seemingly arrived for me. I am (sad? pleased?) to announce that I'm going to retire from active work next weekend, after reaching 64 years old.

Then, an unavoidable question arises now for sure: what is going to happen to Minairons miniatures, once I am retired?
Believe me that I've been asking to myself this very same question for several months now - and I'be been plainly unable to extract an ultimate answer yet.

If willing to know more about the issue and learn about my current expectations for an immediate future, please check the following thread in Minairons’ own blog.
I also strongly recommend you to bookmark the forementioned blog, to be kept aware of eventual future news.

Let me offer you some remarks: 1. Growing older is just a growing distance between your fysical and your mental age. I have enough experience in this: my fysical age is 78, my mental age perhaps around 30 ;-)). 2. After retiring people will ask you "Did you stop working ?". Your answer should be "No, I have no paying job anymore" (which is quite a difference ;-)). Be sure to stay active and always have fun ! Those who think: "Ah, peace and quiet at last" will be dead in a moment. I do hope Minairons will recover from the crash of your leaving and will continue the good works, or perhaps rise again as - for instance Hinterland !

Congratulations! I just retired at the end of this school year, too. I have seen quite a jump in my painting production (no surprise  lol)...!

I understand I'm feeling it too.  :o

It's so strange : a thing that only happens to old people should not happen to us.  :?

Congratulations - just over two years retired myself.

A. Beware the dreaded honey-do list (if you are married/partnered) - time suck extraordinaire.

B. Late mother's saying about aging,"Getting old ain't for sissies!"

C. There is only one alternative to getting older so embrace aging - along with all the accumulated aches and pains that seem to come along for the ride.  Or embrace the alternative.  Personally, I'm happy to wait a long time for the alternative, told the wife to plan my 105th birthday party!  :o  lol

D. Enjoy retirement, it is a long journey and a reward for those who work hard enough to be able to enjoy it.

E. Be compassionate to all those not so fortunate as to ever really be able to retire - far too many.

F. Make sure you have something to wake up to every morning that helps you have a sense of self-worth.  This is VERY important to a long and healthy retirement.  Otherwise you'll be back working far sooner than you expected.  Or bear-hugging the aforesaid 'alternative'.

And set all that aside and CELEBRATE!!!

 :D

Best wishes for the impending happy day! I'm somewhat jealous.
