Fantasy in 20mm plastic (orc chariots and goblin flunkies)
« on: June 29, 2024, 12:02:54 PM »
Recently I've been working on additions to some of my old massed fantasy armies, originally mustered about a decade ago. This time it is the orcs who get some new toys to play with.

All are 20mm plastic - the orcs and goblins are from the Caesar Miniatures sets, which I was fortunate enough to obtain some of recently - not as easy to find as when I started! The chariots are taken from the HaT Gallic Warrior Queen set. Everyone is based for compatibility with DBA or Hordes of the Things, though they may get used for other rulesets at some point as well.

A few more pictures are available at my blog.

Great job on those! Re-purposing the ancient British chariots is a good way to add some mobility to the orc army. I did something similar for the 15mm orc army I have been working on. The goblin skirmishers add variety, too!

I looked through the first few pages of your blog - you have lots of interesting 20mm projects. I’ll definitely be taking a closer look!

Hi Kaiphranos, very nice conversions based on Gallic chariots, and I like the horses very much!

Hmm, taking Goblins as toys for the Orcs is very true - some sort of living skittles? :D

Thanks, glad to hear you found it interesting! Yes, I've dabbled in other scales from time to time but 20mm is my gold standard.

Glad you like them - I had fun looking up some more unusual horse patterns! I still have some leftover orcs and goblins... maybe there are some conversion possibilities there. ;)

They look terrific - the chariots are a great idea!

I reckon 1/72 is the scale for HOTT/DBA with 60mm frontages: there's just the right amount of room on the base.

Thank you! Yes, I have a hard time imagining 25/28mm figures fitting on those base sizes - certainly not most modern ones!
