A classic demon tail in 28mm?
« on: July 19, 2024, 03:40:30 PM »
For a project I'm working on, I want to find a classic demon tail in 28mm scale.

You know, something that looks like this:

Alas, I'm having difficulty.

Has anyone seen anything of the sort? Ideally on its own, as a separate piece, but if it's attached to an existing miniature I'd be happy to cut it off and repurpose it, so long as the miniature isn't too expensive. Also ideally in resin or metal. None of this new-fangled 3D printing stuff for me!

Any leads?

The Frostgrave demons have optional barbed tails (not resin or metal, obviously).

Oh, good call!

I think I could probably extend my material choice to plastic. Thanks!

Is it just the one you're after? I'm planning to shave off the barbs of mine to convert more goblins to Skaven, but I could probably spare one!

In case you're after something different to that, Heresy sell a fairly nice one

What size of creature do you want to attach the tail to? The Frostgrave ones are sized for humans (effectively) and aren't terrible prominent (this figure's on a 25mm round for context):

Reaper sell metal creature components which might work if you can use a bunch of parts:

Maybe the barbed tail could be trimmed to suit.

I'd be slightly wary of Heresy just now, as I’m still waiting on some figures I ordered at the start of April. He still seems to be having mould problems, although 14 weeks feels like more than enough time to sort things out :(

Depending on how good you are at bending brass wire then surely one of the commercially available wire spears would do or better yet the end of a white metal one (much easier to bend, hence the need for wire substitutes).

If you don't have either then a piece of wire of your choosing, a hammer and a metal file are your friends. Have a dig around in the spares box. Your solution might be free.

Yes, in truth I think that one is too small for what I want.

That's a good option, though I'm not a fan of the ribbed texture that runs down the length of the tail.

Yes, I've heard similar accounts, which makes me reluctant, though honestly I do think that particular tail is the one I want!

I have ordered the Heresy Fallen One...from a shop in Berlin.

Paying a bit more for shipping beats waiting a quarter of a year (or more) for delivery!

The Heresy Fallen One arrived from Berlin today, and it is EXACTLY what I need for my project. It fits perfectly.

Thanks again, everyone, but especially beefcake for that hot recommendation!

You're welcome :) I was surprised you went for it considering you were just after the tail.
