Olympic fencer figures?
« on: 02 August 2024, 02:00:02 AM »
Watching the Olympic fencing has taken me back to my fencing days.
Does anyone know of any fencing figures, of any scale, out there?

Thanks

Not any that I know of. At least no ready to go minis. There might be some on the STL market. Otherwise there are sculpts of Musketeers etc fencing. Could be the start of a conversion or two.

1:64 scale...you can buy them unpainted but they're still a bit pricey for what they are!

Hmm, I'm not sure those count. Figures fencing, yes... but so so so incorrect it's probably easier to start with a Muskateer! I mean come on, a foil láme with an Epee in hand?!?  >:(

Yeah, in all honesty I feel a little embarrassed about having even suggested those.  lol

The only one I can recall off the top of my head is this one by Bob Murch...

Sadly, the ones you showed they don't ship to the US.
So, not really an issue on the quality of the figures themselves.

Wow, they would be perfect. But I don't have a 3D printer.

Awesome subject! I was a competitive sabre fencer back in my younger days. And I coached.

The best I did was a bronze at my provincials. Not great.

My most memorable match was against the 2nd ranked in the world, a Cuban defector at the Winnipeg Pan Am Games. I hit him… once. But it was a stop hit - almost impossible timing! He took me seriously after that, and destroyed me 🤣

Me neither, just Google 3d printing services, they'll get it done for you.

Aren't those exactly what I recommended?

They are I think the closest you’ll find to modern, competitive fencers.  As I said, easy to call the weapons epees or foils.  Probably easy to make a saber type hand guard.
