Change of ECW heads to TYW
« on: 26 September 2024, 05:55:53 PM »
Good evening everyone,
I would like to have your opinion. I have ECW figurines from Perry miniatures and I would like to make some different figurines change heads for the TYW. What brand would you recommend? Would the heads from Bicorne Miniatures do the trick?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Unfortunately the Perry ECW range is on the small side compared to pretty much all the other 28mm ranges.

There might be some true 25mm ECW ranges that might work (Foundry for example) but I’m not 100% sure.

What James says is true. You might be better swopping heads within the Perry range. Although the Foundry figures are 25mm, they were sculpted in the 1980s and, as was the style in the 1980s, have large (but wonderful) heads, which don't really fit in with the heads on the Perry range.

Good evening,
Thank you for answering me, I think I will do as you advise me.
Otherwise do you know a brand that only makes hats and helmets? Maybe that could be an option.

Perhaps Avanpost heads would work- they are fairly small. In fact I think they might.

The Assault Group, maybe? Their TYW and ECW ranges scale quite well with Perry figures.

I think Avanpost might well work. Depending where you live, they can be awkward to get hold of, however.

Warlord Games makes hats and helmets and you could try substituting them

Again, thank you for giving me some leads, so I can maybe find a solution.
I just ordered some heads from Avanpost, I'll see upon receipt if it goes well.

Yes of course! When I receive the heads from Avanpost, I will let you know if they can fit on Perry Miniatures bodies.

A question comes to mind, following my purchase of Avanpost "Thirty Years' War" figurines. On the site it says that they are 28 mm, are they really 28 mm or are they bigger like 30 or 32 mm?

They are perfect 28mm. I have a few resin figures of theirs; exquisite sculpting. The figure on the left is Avanpost; the disounted King Charles is Warlord Games and the officer on the right is Bicorne.

Thank you for your reply. I read in various posts that there is a metal version. Do you know where I could find a list of these, because on the IL miniatures site they only offer the resin version.

Avanpost is based in the Crimea. I understand that, at present, only resin figures are being exported. Your best chance of finding metal figures may be someone who has old stock or someone selling on Ebay or equivalent.
