Renegade Miniatures - did anyone pick up their ranges?
« on: October 26, 2024, 06:02:33 AM »
Rather fondly I remember the Renegade Miniatures - did anyone pick up their ranges when they went under?

Their WW1 minis were some of my favourite.

Any thoughts?

I picked up some of their WW1 British including HMGs and an artillery piece, lovely models. Closest I've seen that match them are Great War miniatures

I don't believe anyone picked up their ranges, which is a mystery that lends credence to the theory that they entered some sort of portal into an alternative universe, where, presumably they are still producing them, as opposed to they went out of business. Twas one of the more curious and drawn out disappearances with a non-operating, 'we'll be back soon ' type website presence for a very long time.

If anyone picked up at least part of the range I would have thought it woud be Bicorne as there was considerable overlap in their ECW ranges and part of it shared the same sculptor IIRC.

Tis a great pity as they were lovely models that basically painted themselves.

They didn't "go under".  The owners decided they didn't have time to run the company with young families and put the range and company on ice until they could bring it back.

Of course, it has been a while....

Yes, I miss them too (although the moulds maybe needed some attention in the case of the ECW)

Their various ranges do pop up on evilbay from time to time though.

No. They’ve gone. There’s a history concerning the brothers that ran Renegade. Not for sharing in public though.

As far as the ECW range goes, towards the latter end some of the castings were getting a distinctly ropey - new moulds needed I imagine. But it is a very great shame they’ve apparently disappeared for good. There were some iconic figures in there.

Very nice ranges. I only have some WW1, ancient chinese and Dane axemen. The unit packs were great. 10 or 12 miniatures in a bag. I really wanted Kevin Adams' saxons and Renaissance knights for an oldhammer project.

That’s unfortunate!

Ah well, nostalgia is still there for them.

They do appear on ebay from time to time as well as in some dusty corner wargames shops. Seems there still are a few packs in the Kingdom of Sweden;

Oh that’s a shame, so very intriguing… 🤔
