Operation Code: Escape from Zombietown

Objective: Locate and retrieve the President of the New Republic of Arizona (N.R.A.), who went missing following the crash of reconnaissance helicopter Air Force Alpha within Quarantine Zone ZT-Mesa. Competing mercenary retrieval units are closing in on the objective, so you must reach the target first, secure the President, and exfiltrate on foot. MISSION DETAILS
Area of Operations (AO):

Location: Quarantine Zone ZT-Mesa (formerly downtown Mesa), classified as a high-risk biohazard zone. It is densely populated with undead and hostile entities. The perimeter is secured by barricades, and no airlift support is available for entry or extraction.

Insertion Plan:
Mercenary units will approach the AO on foot via designated entry points. Stealth and low visibility are critical to avoid alerting undead and rival mercenaries.

Extraction Plan:
All teams will exfiltrate on foot after securing the President, navigating through hostile terrain back to the quarantine perimeter. Ground extraction only; no air support is available.

Intel:
Last-known coordinates from Air Force Alpha indicate the area near Zone Delta, close to the old city hall ruins.

Rival mercenary factions have been sighted moving toward Zone Delta. Engage only if necessary for mission security.

Expect to encounter feral undead and potential rogue human elements. Rules of Engagement (ROE): Avoid engagement unless mission integrity demands it.

Mission Objectives
Locate Air Force Alpha Crash Site: Move to Zone Delta and locate the downed craft. Gather intel on the President’s last-known location.

Secure and Extract President N.R.A.: Locate and secure the President. Begin exfiltration through pre-designated safe routes, preparing for possible defensive engagement.
Maintain Operational Security (OpSec): Rival mercenaries are expected in the area; engage only if necessary to secure the objective.

Reward Package: Successful retrieval of the President will be rewarded with 1,000 buckets(appx. 5 gal buckets) of pig oil extract, redeemable with the N.R.A. Central Supply Depot upon mission completion.
Command Protocols:

Extraction Alert: Once the President is secured, initiate foot-based extraction protocols and proceed through designated AO zones for exit.

Ruleset for Engagement:
Game System: 28mm Skirmish using Warlord 2107 Post-Apocalyptic Homebrew Rules

See below for Drone footage of the mission.

Results: after initial firefight between the gangers and mercs tempers cool and all the mercs and gangers team up to hold up at the strongpoint before clearing a path to the bridge and living to tell the tale.

Unfortunate outcome for the living, but a very cool game! I have a project along these lines in mind for next year and seeing games like this are great inspiration.

A true successor to the long-ago Zombietown Massacre game run in Sacramento, CA.    Stryder does it up right with his version!   There are a few of the original z-town buildings in this game and a whole bunch of new stuff.

Looks great!

Here is a link to the old part of my website where the original Zombietown buildings are detailed out, for the benefit of those who want to undertake similar build projects.  That early version had a distinct horror-comedy flavor as those were the kinds of b-flicks we grew up on, though straight-up horror, slasher, or even more fantastic versions could be cool in your particular area.   Give the audience what they want!

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Glad it could provide inspiration. Thanks for the buildings and figures to the crew from Sacramento. I hope by next year I can get more survivors painted. I went ahead and ran this game since I had put it off due to not being completely ready last year.

Great looking game!  Also I really like the new character cards you showed me.  You did a really good job with the new terrain - I especially like the river and bridge (they make good choke points for the action) and the train tracks were a nice touch.  Too bad the orange VW didn't survive the game though.

Thanks mikos khan and KD47 for sending the supplies of zombies game rules and buildings. Lots of the extras were from our local game group that i borrowed for the game. Now.need to get more desert plants to fit the southwest vibe.

Great looking game.  Glad to hear the mercs and the gangers put aside their differences, at least for a while...

Part Duex Escape From Zombietown Halloweeen Game
« Reply #11 on: October 30, 2024, 04:04:32 AM »
Ran the game again for my friend at the local game store. Again his team of mercs and survivors were able to blast their way far enough to get a vw bug running and find the president before being overwhelmed by the zombie horde. Great effort and use of grenades to clear swathes of zombies. Plan to run it one more time next week for another group of friends and wrap up the halloween zombie season until I get more stuff ready.

Love it! Grenades are indeed very useful when you get the zombies all nice and bunched up...  lol

I always loved that cowgirl figure!  Good job on the building closeups - it really captured the details.

Thanks for that one and the others! Yes my friend was getting all artsy with the closeups. He has a really good camera on his phone from the looks of it.
