Links to two Argad Sengoku AARs
« on: 30 October 2024, 10:32:52 AM »
Hi,

Two AARs in French, with many detailed pictures, of two games played on 19-20 October at Vannes Sekai Festival, in Vannes (Brittany).

The games were part of a same campaign (running since years). Ruleset: Argad, with a morale rule added for large units. These AARs are on the blog of the game master / referee of this campaign.

Looks awesome. I’m curious about the setup and history of this multi-year campaign.

I’m curious about the setup and history of this multi-year campaign.

That's 14 games in almost seven years. This game master writes very detailed scenarios and roles, loosely inspired by historical events, and imagines his next scenarios as precise consequences of what happened in the previous games.

Also the RPG dimension is important. For example, in a previous game, the player acting as the Hojo lord was discussing with his vassals (other player characters). The vassals sat around him (exactly as did their figures on the gaming table) and talked and gave their advice ...knowing that there was bitter rivalry between some of them, and perhaps a traitor to discover, etc.

We have been running other campaigns in other historical periods, but much less detailed, our other game masters use a simpler way: what we often do is, after playing for the first time in a new historical (or fantasy) context, players may retain their same character in following games, and their characters may have gained some ability or wealth or fame (or wounds), but the next adventures are not necessarily linked to the previous ones, we suppose that the characters move to another place etc. so it's much easier to imagine new scenarios.
