The first game in our Dux Britanniarum campaign sees the Saxons raid a farm in search of loot. The Britons will start the campaign trying to fight off a succession of raids as the Saxons try to muscle their way into the Old North.

Dux has loads of narrative built into the mechanics and I'm looking forward to seeing how it unfolds. Full report on the first game is here: http://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2024/12/warriors-in-old-north-dux-britanniarum.html

Very nice. We used to play Dux but for some reason no campaign has ever worked with our little group. Probably fell foul of the "herding cats" syndrome. Getting us to focus on anything longer-term seems beyond anyone. Half the fun of Dux seems to be the campaign element so maybe I will dig it out again. Many of us are expanding our Dux forces for use with the new Midgard ruleset so the figures will be re-emerging into the light of day....

We’ve played to completion over a dozen of the pint sized campaigns for Chain of Command but they are more finite and rarely go beyond 8 games so it will be interesting to see how we go with this one and the more fluid structure of the campaign. The danger is leaving too long a gap between games and becoming distracted with other projects. We tend to be fairly disciplined in our approach wanting to finish one project before embarking on another so I’m fairly optimistic, but you know how easily gamers can be distracted…..

The second game in the campaign and the Saxons are raiding into the territory of the Britons once again. I'm finding this a very enjoyable system that plays quickly with a great narrative. Despite the fact I've played so few games I'm finding we rarely need to consult the rules. Always a good sign! The full report on the game is here: https://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2025/02/warriors-in-old-north-scenario-2-raid.html

The third game in the campaign and the Saxons are raiding yet again, this time they are after livestock. Cadwallon must try to prevent them escaping with their plunder from raids on nearby farmsteads. Can he foil the Saxons again? Lovely table and miniatures. And I'm a sucker for a good campaign.

I've owned Dux (and miniatures for it) since the original pre-release. Have I ever played it? Nope.

Those pesky Saxons are raiding over the border yet again. They never learn, but give them credit, they are persistent. This is the fourth game in the campaign and as the campaigning season draws to a close the Saxons venture over the border for one last attempt at more plunder. A full report in the blog post here:
