And continuing the Soviet theme with something really off the beaten track, the Soviet Invasion of the Kuriles and the Battle of Shumshu in August 1945.

Something for everyone: Soviet Naval Infantry, naval gunfire support, stiff Japanese defences and even an armoured  counterattack by the Japanese defenders.

In fact, there are quite a few scenarios that can be proposed for the Eastern Front...
- Occupation of Iran, then the same troops are sent against the Germans in the Caucasus
- Battle of Moscow (the phase of the Soviet retreat - shortage of troops, while waiting for reserves to arrive from the east of the country, military schools, militia, scattered combined units - everything that can be collected and found - are sent into battle)
- Defense of Sevastopol (fight in encirclement, marines, shortage of supplies)
- Storming of Koenigsberg (storming of outstanding fortifications built and updated over several centuries)
- Kursk Bulge (masses of tanks, oncoming tank battles, artillery fortified areas, vast minefields)
- Storming of Berlin

Battle of Shumshu? A veritable Saving Private Ivan scenario for sure -- the Soviets got mauled by the Japanese on their first large amphib landing attempt of the war.

Another though would be the rarely gamed or talked about in the west, Soviet–Japanese border conflicts and the skirmishes and lead up to the battle of Khalkhin Gol would be interesting as well.

It may not be a commercial success though but all  very interesting and gets to match up 2 different opponents.
