I paint frequently for people in my gaming group.  Technically I do it for free but it is customary to bring beer when picking up your figures... lol

That's rather underpaid... I got a good bottle of Irish whisky last time!

Given some conventions... yes.  Though it was inside, near the bar.  lol

Saves me from buying more miniatures.  lol
I prefer Bourbon aged beers but Rye or Irish Whisky would certainly suffice.  :)

So, stupid idea or not?  I think that by offering this for free, I get to decide what I do and don’t want to do, I can avoid anyone not thinking they got value for money, and I won’t feel bad about not working to deadlines.

Not a stupid idea at all. Anything that gets more figures painted and more games played is a good thing.  Painting is my least favorite part of the hobby so I've occasionally received painted models from friends.  I've also traded painting of units with friends when we're both getting burned out having to paint large units of similar minis.

However, my favorite part of the hobby is building terrain and I've got tons of supplies for it, so when possible I've tried to trade painting for terrain building and that's worked out quite well.  If anyone in the USA wants to trade their painting time for my terrain building skills (especialy, but not limited to, scifi terrain), hit me up.  I'm definitely interested and my standards for painted minis aren't high.

Thanks for your thoughts all, and special thanks to the brave soul who tried this out.  This is a thing then, so if you are in the UK, have some stuff in your pile you would like painted but you are unlikely to get to them any time soon, and don't mind my style and quality, please PM me.  No fee (that way neither of us has to feel bad if you aren't happy with the results). You post to me, I post back.

If you post a few piccies of some of the figures you've worked on, this may help people get an idea of what your painting style/technique is like? I think it's actually a great idea and you'd be offering a service to others with this.

Don't use this bloke, you'd paint better figures with a yard brush!!!  :o
Then again, I've got a vile and vested interest here. If you shower show up, it'll take Dean longer to fettle my lead mountain!

Here's the Indians Dean painted me. He had 'em back to me in less than two weeks. Yesterday I sent him some Western townfolk, knowing he'll do a cracking job on them.
