Sicilian Hill Tribes
« on: 22 January 2025, 07:55:36 PM »
Hi Guys
Just a brief question .
I am Painting an Army a Early Carthaginian Army in 28mm  for Sicilian Wars  (Greek Punic war )
I need some Generic Hill Tribes to Represent the Sicani and Sicels , that could ally to either side .
In WRG speak they are Light medium and Open order Irregulars .
Any Recommendations please.
Cheers

I find that in the case of more "obscure" cultures and time periods, kitbashing plastic kits are a godsend. If I were to create native Sicilians, I would mix Victrix Romans with pectoral armor, Victrix Iberians, and Wargames Atlantic Citizens of Rome boxsets to create lightly armored / unarmored skirmishers.

I think Victrix Numidian Infantry with Roman/Hellenic heads would be appropriate for a simple "tribal" look.

Even just the Greek Peltast box can do the job.

Agreed. I’d go easy on the helmets except for the upper class warriors though.

I use Greek Peltasts from either the warlord plastic Greeks or the Victrix Greeks
