Counterattack at Saipan - Chain of Command at Cancon
« on: January 28, 2025, 07:30:56 AM »
Home from Cancon and put together a blog post on the Saipan scenario for Chain of Command that I designed and ran as a participation game at the show. Another great event with the Lard Zone being the biggest attended historical gaming event at the show. I think the presence of Richard Clarke for the second time was a major draw card. Mine was one of several games of CoC but many other games and periods were being played.

My blog post covers the various pieces I put together to make it happen. A bit about terrain, but also a bit about the scenario research and design and how it played out over the show. You can find the full post here http://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2025/01/counterattack-at-saipan-chain-of.html

Here are a few pictures of the games in progress during the show:

Great report.  Sounds like a good scenario, and some great games.  Well done!

Thanks. I heard numbers of gaming participants was slightly down although it looked as busy as usual to me. I know certain tournaments are now run off-site, like Kings of War, so I suspect that’s what brought the numbers down. Otherwise it looked very busy. That said, I was running games all day Saturday and Sunday so didn’t see everything.

Matt, I heard that there were 1300 entrants, Lard Zone comprised 80 of those. The noise level around us was very high.

1300 attendees? So more than the average ACT Brumbies match attendance then? lol

A fantastic-looking game matched by a superbly readable blogpost - I thoroughly enjoyed the detailed breakdown of the prep work. But most of all I just wanted to commend you on the exposed wiring of the radio mast. I mean, wow!

Now that cloudflare has verified I'm human (personally I've had my doubts), I'd like to add to the kudos.  Well done.  Great terrain.  Thanks for posting.
