What a wonderful table and game.  Bravo Patrice!  Thank you for posting the report and pictures.  I also agree with Madman that suitable hats are part of the fun.  :D

Superb, love the train, but the whole setup looks so much fun - those kids must have loved it!
At least no-one ate the yurt for breakfast whilst the yoghurt exchanged places with it.

They do something very similar each year at Hot Lead, a miniatures convention in Stratford, Ontario. Also set in warlord China for up to a dozen characters each receives a mission objective and often these are conflicting, complementary, totally at odds or completely irrelevant to each other.

I didn't know about Hot Lead in Stratford. ...If we try to explore our gaming history, there were multi-players fascinating and inspiring AARs of BoB games run by Ignatieff here on LAF more than 10 years ago (?) and we followed his example for medieval, or pirates, multi-players games some years later. And we're still doing it, and this time we returned to BoB.  :)

suitable hats are part of the fun.  :D

We did some games long ago in re-enactment clothes or uniforms (C.1700 soldiers and privateers or pirates) but not recently. I know the funny hats idea that Bob Murch suggested long ago, yes that would be fun, but we can't prepare too many things at once. ;)

---

In this game there were some NPCs run by the GM, that players could talk with. They didn't serve much, except to give some basic informations when asked for; their purpose was ...to help the GM to run things, if necessary.
So ...please don't anyone send their lawyers to us there was nothing commercial, there was NO American major Tippit, NO tsarist Duchess Seminova (both from Corto Maltese in Siberia) and NO Baroness Ivanova (from 55 days at Peking aged + 20 years).

I have also been following Marianas Gamer's 5 Li from the (Soviet) Border with the same enthusiasm. Lots of fun, lots of tongue in cheek entertainment.

That was fun, I like the setting and storytelling you did with it. Plus it has a train. Trains make every game better.

Great looking game and I especially love the setting.  The FT-17 on the flatcar and Mongol cavalry are also nice touches.

They really create a sense of the times, don't they?

More Mongol cavalry is on its way, a next scenario will perhaps take place in Mongolia during the Chinese occupation.

I still need to improve that train. Also I need to make a telegraph line (or a least, telegraph poles).

The FT 17 on the flatcar was an idea to use it without unbalancing this game.

A missing faction is the Japanese army, which should appear in BoB games in Manchuria and Siberia. I know Bob Murch has Japanese marines, Empress and others have 1905 Japanese troops, and of course there's a lot of WW2 Japanese everywhere, but I don't know any figures of Japanese troops in Type 45 uniform, winter dress, bulky enough to mix well with Copplestone and Bob Murch figures... ???

The Rubicon utilities set has a few telephone poles that can double for telegraph.

That's a tough one for the troops, the Model 45 uniform coat doesn't look like any other nation's so it's not something you can mod from another. Besides yourself, do you know anyone else looking for these troops?

I just checked and didn't see any soldiers in his lineup anymore.

Great looking game!

Hmm, the time period could also use a Telly Savalas Cossack ? la Horror Express.

Every game can use a little more Telly Savalas.

Probably but it's difficult to say if there's a large market...
There are still many gaps in the available 28mm BoB ranges. Copplestone said some years ago he will not make any new, and Bob Murch is also working on other, different projects.
I'm surprised no one else tries it; but are 28mm bulky figures still fashionable amongst new gamers, I dont't know.  ???

:o :o Never heard of it!

...But it sems very inspiring...!  lol lol
