It's giving Conan for me! Reminds me of the Tower of the Elephant. Whatever it makes us think of though, it looks great :)

Oh, I think I recognise this, the awesome Lords of Midnight?

For all you more mature fellows back in 1984 a ground breaking, ZX Spectrum game was born and the legend of the land of Midnight began. Written by the famous Mike Singleton the game involves defeating the evil Witchking in a land frozen in permanent winter. The armies of the good march against the armies of evil.
A second game called Doomarks Revenge was produced  and a third was planed but never made. I aim to incorporate characters from both games including, "the Free, the Fey,the Foul,Barbarians,Dwarfs and Giants". At the moment I plan to fight across the land of Midnight in 28mm probably using some converted Dragon Rampant rules and I plan to create a hex type board game using the smaller 6mm armies.
Oh and well done Clibinarium ;)
If anybody is interested you can still play both games for free on GOG and other platforms.

Also Drew Wagar has written a series of excellent books following the original story.

The giant you see above is a model from Grey Ghost Miniatures and plays the role of " Fenorn" the giant. I am just figuring out the original game engine for both ZX spectrum games and the traits variuos characters were given. I will add a few after reading the Drew Wagar books which have fleshed out some of the characters. The traits will effect battle and Fenorn has the following traits so far: Stubborn, Greedy,Slow,Treacherous,Weak and Rude. Lovely chap lol

Great looking giant.

The scenery also reminds me a little of Pingu - probably not what you wanted to hear, but I mean it as a positive (my family love the show).

Pingu is pure quality. Both Pingu and The Lords of Midnight are childs of the 80s so perhaps the colour palletes are similar ? The terrain I am using is meant to be an exact colour copy of the game ,so Cyan Blue etc.

As soon as I saw those wolves I knew it.

I encountered the game in the early 90s, long after its release (actually googling tells me it was on the covertape of Crash magazine in September 1991). It was still stunning for a ZX Spectrum game even then. Sort of like the scope of Elite but in a fantasy setting. Considering the limited hardware it was working on, it was a real marvel of programing.
Sadly I was too young to really understand enough to play it properly, even though I loved seeing the armies moving around. So although I had a limited experience with it, the visuals were burnt into my brain.

I was thinking about it recently as I got a "The Spectrum" at Christmas, and it can be played on that. Plus recently there's a guy doing a similar project with papersoldiers which is pretty cool

EDIT- that may be the same project Dubbya refers to?
