Mark Sims' Dwarves
« on: 13 February 2025, 06:15:39 PM »
Hello there! My first post on LAF so I ask your forgiveness if I commit any forum gaffes.
But here goes:
Crusader Miniatures, Black Hat Miniatures, Bridge Miniatures - and now the scrapyard?
I only recently came across the sort-of Elizabethan style almost kneeless Dwarves once sculpted by Mark Sims for his Crusader Line. Which then went on as a line called Shattered Isles to Black Hat Miniatures which then went on to Bridge Miniatures which dissolved in May 2024, it appears.
On Evilbay you can't possibly find them for all the myriads of GW minis rotating there. They seem to have practically vanished - and they were such nice clean sculpts of a markedly different style. A neat small range having everything one could wish for - or at least what I wished for >Sigh<
Anybody know whether Bridge sold the moulds when they wound down their business?
Cheers.

In all honesty I am not sure Bridge ever geared "up" the business let alone wound it down. I tried for a while to get some of the old Gladiator 3 Musketeer figures from them, both when they took the lines over and later when they announced the relaunch, but never got confirmation whether they had the stock or not.

It's very strange that there seem to be companies in the hobby wholly uninterested in doing business. EOE Orbis with their robber baron attitude comes to mind.  :?

In Kev from Bridge Miniatures case he had a lot of ill-health and changes in circumstances which formed something of a perfect storm.  I haven't heard from him for quite a while so I don't know what has happened to the ranges...

Foundry do some Elizabethan dwarfs under the Warmonger name that might fit your needs

Oh yes, these are quite ... luxurious designs. Which really means you have to invest a lot to do them justice with a paint job.

That's too bad. I can imagine how that upends even the best-laid plans. Been there myself... But thanks for the info!
