Bit of a long shot here.... But I'm trying to find a scatter material that's a close match to one that I use that has been discontinued, and is an ingredient in the 'recipe' of grass I use on all my terrain and boards.

It's called Moorland Green, and was made by Arcane Scenery & Models, who are no longer in business.

I've only got a few spoonfulls of it left!

I've looked through the well-known model railway scenic companies (Noch, Gaugemaster, Javis, etc) and haven't been able to find anything close.

If any one could give me any pointers to find one that is ROUGHLY the same sort of colour mix we see here, that would be awesome!

Or if anyone actually has any of this stuff lying around, even better....

If the product is what you show in the photo - never seen anything like that in fifty plus years of modeling.  However, if you have not checked them yet, definitely take a look at Scenic Express and really dig deep into their flocks (many pages in) for some items that might come some of the way towards what you want.

You may need to mix your own - I have a big plastic box of various bags of Javis flock, and take small amounts of a variety of these and add to a smaller plastic pot to give a less monochrome and vibrant flock than the starting point.

And some of the bought ones are a mix of 2 or 3 colours - but I don’t think I’ve seen one with that many colours in it. But I think I have seen most of the colours separately.

Charlie, apologies if you know this already, but Arcane was run by Stephen Wood, who is a lovely chap, a pal of Billhooks author, Andy Callan, and an admin on the Billhooks Facebook group - of which I know you’re a member.
If it was me, I’d contact Steve via Fb Messenger and ask him where he got his scatter mix from, or - if he made it himself - what the ingredients were.
As I say, you may already have thought of this :)

It’s an interesting looking mix. Seems mainly dyed sawdust / chippings based rather than the shredded or powdered sponge which is the most common form of scatter these days (Woodland Scenics, etc).

It made me think of old furniture-cushion foam.  An image search turned up this car seat foam:

It's from these guys: https://foamforyou.com/multirebonded-mixed-foam
I suppose it could (like the standard foam) be pulsed in a blender to get what you need?

Looks like old-school sawdust type ground scatter.  Check model railroad shops. Some of the European (Pola?) terrrain products maybe similar.  It has gotten more expensive though too, and also likely faded over time. You may have to buy a couple colours to mix and match.
