Darrell: many thanks. With the Bloody Miniatures cuirassiers, we went, for once, for figures in combat poses. Brian did two little units, each of about a dozen figures. One is cuirassiers in 3/4 armour and the other is heavy cavalry in helmets, breast and back plates with buff coats. I wanted them to be in a melee, cuirassiers against the rest, but my main problem was finding enough horses in the right poses without too much duplication. I spent quite a lot of time looking around last year at what is available. My conclusion was that there are some perfect horses around, mainly from Warlord, but I couldn't find enough different ones, and so put the project on hold.

The sheer love and attention to detail by you, Brian and Andrew is very clear to me; on each and every set of mini's you have had completed. And, just so inspiring.

I came across some horses from Reconquista Designs which I thought were great, but they were resin and just too fragile - they looked like they would break just by looking at them.

I'm going through something similar to a much smaller degree as I need a Nikephorian Byzantine General and Standard Bearer which are different from the rank and file etc so have settled on V&V for the characters but metal horses from Aventine (a wee bit early and fancy but hey, a Stategos can afford such delights! My worry is that the resin "riders" are eventually going to die a death so I can only hope they survive the tabletop for long enough to justify the joy trhey will bring :)

Darrell: many thanks for your kind comments. I hope your general and standard bearer are successful. I admit that I have very little experience of resin figures. I bought some Avanpost ones a few years ago, and I was put off resin by the fact that I had some breakages just assembling them. I may be worrying unnecessarily, I don't know. Because I don't game, my figures are hardly handled at all and perhaps they'd be OK. I'd welcome any thoughts / experiences anyone would like to share on how durable resin figures are.

No, I fear your worries are justified Paul. V&V resin has some give in it but I think is weak compared to even plastics. Still, If they survive the weekend they are meant for they can retire to one of my dis-play cases and I'll get someone to convert something metal at some point in the future- pointless me trying as all I manage is "blob men"  lol. Really, they're awful  :D

Beautifully naturalistic posture on the horses and Cuirassiers. So far ahead of my blob men conversions that is boggles my mind.  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

The painting is sublime, as ever, from Andrew. One day Mr Richardson, you are going to have to let me see this collection in person- it would be well worth the trip!

Many thanks for the kind comments.

Darrell: keep trying with the conversions. Remember, Brian has been sculpting figures for decades.
