I picked up this 1:48 scale Junker Ju-52 to use as a passenger plane in my games. So far its made one appearance (in Final Flight for Perilous Island) which does not justify its cost. The fact that I love it is enough to justify its cost.  :D

That's a 2x2 board section to help give an idea of size.

I have a multipart 1:48 scale DC-3 which I need to build and paint at some point. The DC-3 is my favourite plane of all time. I've got a Spartan 7W Executive and a Ford tri-motor metal piggy banks. The Ford is too small to really function in 28mm but the Spartan is perfect.

I'm jealous, that is a beautiful model! I love the DC-3 as well, but like the Ju-52, the size puts me off building it. I have a Beechcraft Model 18 I've thought of doing up as a civilian airliner.

Thought you would appreciate this:

C-47 flown over an operational Tiger I at TankFest 2014; one of the coolest weird things I've gotten to see in person.

A year later I watched C-47s drop reenactor paratroopers over the Sainte-Mere-Eglise drop zone for the D-Day anniversary.

As my Pulp stories are currently all on an Island, I built a plane a few months ago so there was at least some way of getting people to and from the action.

It has since been involved in a number of rescue attempts...

...not always succesfully.

It has been pointed out that Ascension is about 960 miles (1,540 km) from the nearestmajor land mass, and that a single engined plane wouldn't be able to make it that far, and I reolved this problem by pretending it doesn't exist. Maybe one say I'll make a two engined version...

Me too. I actually have a ticket for a ride in "That's All Brother!" because I contributed to the fundraiser to save it, but have not lived in the US since then and so haven't gotten a chance to try and take advantage of it.

I forgot to ask, what kind of plane is that? It's nice.

Thanks. It's a mix of designs I liked; in this case a Fiat Aviazone Cr42, and an Antonov An2.

In my world, the first world war ended in 1917, meaning that Germany never helped Lenin get to Russia, and Britsh Intelligence never funded Mussolini's newspaper, so history was very different.

Then one evening at an international conference an designer from Antonov and a designer from Fiat were in a bar, and after several drinks together they started doodling on a beer mat...

Thanks for the neat back story and I can see the kitbash now that you've explained it.

Nice world you've got there Andy!

Well... Britain is having a crisis and lurching towards extremism and civil war (based on the Very British Civil War scenario), and Ascension is seeing some of the ripples from this, as well as being the centre of a workaround for a trade war developing between Europe and south America.

The island itself has a small wealthy class and a large underclass of people, often stuck on the island with no means of leaving, and of course has become a haven for spies, smugglers and criminals. If you know the "Babylon 5" series, think of that but in the 1920's.

Also, there's no plumbing.

But apart from that, yeah, it's okay.

People always forget about the lack of plumbing and its impact on life until they find themselves without it.

A lot of dirty deeds can be done in the outhouses.
