Judge Dredd Figure ID
« on: March 28, 2025, 04:07:09 PM »
I have two random miniatures I want to put on Ebay.  I think they are from Mongoose, but could be wrong.  Anyone able to identify which characters they are and confirm manufacturer please?  And are they still available or OOP?

Both are indeed Mongoose.

Judge on left is a tech (his helmet should actually say tech)

Judge on right is a med judge (has a cross on each pad)

They are very much OOP...not rare though few quid each...the only thing that puts me off them.... if i were buying (which im not) is the spare flash... all the mongoose castings ive had previously have been better quality... maybe end of line.

Yep, Mongoose.

Actually some of their better figures, once they've been cleaned up. Not sure anyone else does/did a med-judge, either.

Yeah Mongoose Tech Judge and Med Judge - it actually says it on their base strips.

I always thought that flash like that was just a sign that nobody had bothered to do the minimum of clean up once they'd been demoulded. In fact, I took it as a sign that the casting had beed a good one as it shows the mould had fully filled.

Is this not the case?

My thoughts too. Those kind of feed channels are dead easy to remove, and to me just indicate the lead has flowed to all the parts of the mould.

Flash to me is thin linear amounts of excess metal along the sides of the figures, where the mould is worn and small amounts of metal leak out.

Both the fill channels and flash were much more likely on the old figs, it was just the way that they were sold.

Still happens today just less so, not sure if this to do with the harder more pewter end of the alloy, over the softer more lead types, hopefully one of the LAF casting experts can help us poor laymen out ???
