Scotland and its Highlands were the number one destination on my bucket list.

In 1986, two friends and I spent five weeks traveling through the highlands. 100 countries later, I still call it my "greatest adventure"...  :)

Did you ever go over the 'pass of the cattle' on Skye?

Love those rats! Great painting!

I've never played Burrows and Badgers but I've always wanted to do something Skaven-y for our ongoing "Not Really Warhammer" campaign- I may have to check out those minis!
I have a YouTube and so can you!

Thanks, all, for the kind words! I did want to go with something a little darker in theme than what was in the book, so glad that choice paid off! The blue/grey color I used, The Fang, is one of my two favorite Citadel colors.

I'm a fan of Skaven from way back. There's no chance I'm going to play a Warhammer game, nor do I want to paint up a bunch of rats, so a rat faction in B&B seemed a great alternative.

And who gets _five_weeks_ off to travel anywhere? Dang! I was only in the Highlands for a weekend and it wasn't nearly enough. Granted, we were also hobbled by a flat tire, but hey, I got to live like a local for a bit and do a mundane chore instead of live up the vacation. lol. Five weeks though.... seriously... was it five weeks of hiking or just generally staying in the area? I can't imagine how challenging it might have been to plan a five week trip in another country... in 1986!

I was on summer break from college back in 1986. I used guidebooks, and had read up and made notes on places I really wanted to see. My friends and I would discuss it and then take the train, bus, or hitchhike to the next place on our list. I was staying in youth hostels or B&Bs back then. We started in London, made a quick stop at Stonehenge, then headed north to Hadrian's Wall. After a day hiking the wall, we hitched into Scotland. We made a circuit north and west out to the islands and then circling down back to the east coast and south of Scotland. Took our time so much that I never made it to Edinburgh (until 30 years later or so...  :D).

It was indeed a wonderful adventure. So many stories from those five weeks...I would tell my students for years about them. Sorry to threadjack here, but Scotland will always hold a special place in my heart.

No worries on the threadjack, I don’t have any more minis to share for this project and I also appreciate Scotland. I’m jealous of your trip! Sounds amazing!
