Wacky Races, Gaslands Style! - DWG
« on: April 11, 2025, 08:57:44 PM »
One of the games played last month at the Devon Wargames Group was a Gaslands interpretation of the childrens late 60's TV cartoon Wacky Races.

And they're off!  Always great to see Wacky Races on the table top.

That is great. One of my favorite shows as a kid. I have the game that came out not that long ago.

Fantastic! I loved this cartoon back in the day.

Just the names of the wacky races cars in the report make it feel nostalgic.

I remember the cartoon as well! The tabletop version was suitably wacky!

Glad to hear my little game struck a chord with gamers of a certain age. It was jolly good fun to play too. Gaslands is a great set of rules.

The standard warnings that, "If you touch a template, you are using it and if it isn't legal, the player to your left picks a legal template for you instead" and "no shooting before passing the first race gate. If you do, two machine gun turrets on the gate fire on you" were issued. As usual, virtually no one was listening.

That is the essence of every single one of the countless Gasland races I participated. You know it better, but you do it every time again...  ::) And this is exactly why the game is so much fun!  :D

I bought the wacky races game a couple of years back with the intention of doing the same thing - still haven't got around to painting them!
