The Phoenix Lord of the Warp Spiders, Lhykis.

To keep with the Iyanden theme, I chose yellow for the mandibles, and back aspect rune; I also kept the overall scheme in darker black to a colour called Field Blue for the main body.

Sword done with a NMM style in turquoise colours, using a fair amount of both wet blends and glazing.

Base simply GW Contrast Aethermatic Blue over desert tan primer for the warp electricity; Eldar ruin, GW Contrast Space Wolves Grey. Usual snow and tufts to finish to keep with the rest of the army.

Well that's a new one on me - he didn't exist back when I was doing Eldar.
But lovely painting as ever - great colours and shading. Bravo.

He’s a new Phoenix Lord - not 100% sure what edition he appeared in.

Thanks for the kind comments - he was actually quite fun to paint!

First of three units of Fire Dragons (plus there is a Fuegan Phoenix Lord!).

Base Vallejo Desert Tan

GW Contrast custom 1:1:1 Magmadroth Flame: Iyanden Yellow : Contrast Medium for main colour; Tallasar Blue for half helmet, Iyanden Yellow for other half; Black Templar for weapons

Airbrushed gloss varnish, then thinned GW Contrast Snakebite Leather.

Painting … AK Deep Orange with a bit of Pastel Peach; more Peach for highlight; Yellow and Blues as per Guardians; weapon highlight Vallejo Field Blue.

Snow base with icy grass tufts.

Vallejo Matt rattle can varnish - DONE! Two more units to go.

I've not seen that phoenix lord before. Great job. Nicely painted.
I remember playing a game against my brothers Eldar (A long time ago) his warp spiders did a lot of damage to my Tyranids. I swear he was fudging the rules, lol

After a week of family visiting, finally back to painting. Second of three units of Fire Dragons finished! Blue helmets instead of 50/50 like before. Also, aspect rune decals used.

One more unit to go…

Needed a break before tackling the other five Fire Dragons.

New model for this edition, Phoenix Lord Fuegan. A really good sculpt from GW; I like the small details like the Chaos Space Marine head (on fire!) on the base.

I took a quick pic of the army as it’s coming along; I think the tough part of any Eldar army that is Aspect Warrrior-centric is unifying a Craftworld theme. I believe I’ve done that across what’s been painted so far using the blue and yellow of Iyanden.

Two groups of five Howling Banshees for this commission, plus Jain Zar.

To get to the off-white, I airbrush primed them Vallejo Desert Tan. Then, I used GW contrasts thinned with medium, Snakebite Leather, Iyanden Yellow or (?) Blue, for the helmets; Volpous Pink for the hair, Black Templar for the weapons, and Space Wolves Grey for the base features.

The white is AK Creamweiss, a really nice off-white in a tan tone, that generally needs two thin passes to get to the right density. Vallejo German Desert Brown for the leather, and Vallejo Field Blue for weapon highlights. The yellow is a mix of AK Dark Yellow with a colour I forget, but which deepens it a bit. Might be rust. Highlight is straight AK Pastel Yellow. Hair highlight is AK pastel violet. I love the AK pastels, they work great.

Base edged in black - snow and tufts to come.

Well done with the white

Thanks, Louie!

I can’t seem to post a finished photo of the first unit. Standby!

Another aspect completed, another Phoenix Lord done! Jain Zar, Phoenix Lord (Lady?) of the Howling Banshees.

Banners off the spear reflect the ongoing Iyanden blue/yellow theme.
