These are also a Killteam set; they are modern versions of what were Rogue Trader era Eldar Pirates.
2025 painted model count: 368

So the guy I’m painting these for decided that he needed one more model for the tournament this weekend. Maugan Ra had been started, and I finished him up in time. Thirteen models left in the commission!

Lovely work there, sir! I do have a soft spot for the Eldar figures - they were one of my favourite armies to field although I think that the newer figures are much nicer than the older ones whilst still retaining that same look of each of the various aspects.
Tastes and, perhaps, wargaming rules/styles have changed the makeup of the armies though - back when I played 3rd almost every Eldar army had a contingent of jetbikes and/or a Viper, the Phoenix Lords were only rarely seen but an Avatar was amost a must-have!   :)

Thanks Rick!

Yeah, I started with Eldar back in 2nd edition - the Avatar was a MUST have! Also, he was small as a model back then lol

I know, I used to have an older model with the cloak and spear as well as the bigger, newer model (back then) with a sword - wish I'd kept them now.

Finish line is here for the batches I’ve been commissioned to do.

These ten Dark Reapers are meant to be Maugan Ra’s retinue.

Finally, Asurmen! A terrific new sculpt of a classic Phoenix Lord. Painted in Iyanden theme colours. I picked away at this model for the better part of the month, coming back to it to get it looking the way I wanted. Pretty happy with the end result!

And so ends the commission. The dude I’m painting for has - get this - NINETEEN - unpainted armies, so I might have more work. But for now, this project is … DONE!

Nineteen! Are there even 19 different factions?
Anyway. The final work there looks great. Love the yellow on Asurmen

Wow, great work powering through to completion! That final model turned out great, too, the blue and yellow are a striking combination (as any Swede will confirm)!

19 is a lot of armies… never mind GW armies. I’m not sure that my house would cost that much!

Thanks all! I got lots of “oh, it’s Ukrainian!” to the blue-yellow scheme (and as my grandfather was born there, I was cool with that!).

I was really happy with Asurmen - I would slowly pick at him for a month or so. The yellow took ages to build up to that brightness. Yellow is so translucent, and lacking in deep pigment (like red, honestly), that it was lots of thin layers.

Heh, I was aware of the blue/yellow Eldar colours long before I was aware of the Ukraine flag, I'm afraid. The colours do work together and you've created depth with the figures - now lets see a photo of the whole lot together, eh?

Oh and I had pretty much the same problems with red and yellow that you do, until I found Mephiston red and Flash Gitz yellow - for some reason those 2 colours cover very well, even in thin coats (unless they go and change the formula of the paints) - so I use these 2 as my 'default' red and yellow, just going lighter or darker over the top if I want a different shade.
