Here is the first group for the British side for a project I'm painting for my gaming group. We're going to play some skirmish games using 'Fistful of Lead Horse & Musket' set in the French Indian War. I plan on painting enough for a six-player game, so basically three groups per side plus a few non-combatants and additional bits and bobs as the mood (or planned scenario) takes me.
Here is the first group for the British side: This is Captain Jedediah Starke and five Ranger privates from the entirely fictional unit 'Starke's Independent Company of Rangers' circa 1757. I've gone with a fairly irregular look, although Starke's chosen 'uniform' of green jackets with a red trim is visible on half of the men.
There will be one further Ranger group and a group of allied Native Americans on the British side, then two Abenaki groups and a Coureur Du Bois group on the French side. Nathaniel (Hawkeye), Chingachcook and Uncas may make an appearance as well along with Magua plus various settlers.
I'm quite pleased with these lovely big, chunky sculpts from North Star. With eyesight like mine, the chunkier the better! Painted in my now usual 'base coat, dip and highlight' method. Not gonna win prizes close up but look great on the tabletop! Next on the painting table, the second Ranger group under Sergeant Ezekiel Church...
