BLKOUT Game and miniatures
« on: 19 May 2025, 08:05:35 PM »
I picked up the BLKOUT starter set after watching a few YouTube videos about it.  Not bad for $120, it came with two forces, some dice, tokens and the rulebook.

I’ve only played one game so far but it’s pretty brutal and cover and terrain is vital.

They're really nice minis, lovely pj too.

I've been admiring them from a far but I'm under a selfimposeed ban from buying stuff at the moment.

(We'll see how long it lasts this time, ooh look, shiney...)

Those are good looking sculpts, painted very nicely. What grabbed you about the game?

I’ve only played one game so far, but it had some cool mechanics and I thought it was very tactical.

The lean out rule is probably my favorite - allowing your model to be in cover but lean out around a building to shoot or pie the corner.

The dusters (small mechs) are fun as well.

I know what you mean, but they keep dropping units that are must haves for me!  lol

Way too big and way too pricey for my tastes but they do look good.

Very nice paint jobs too!

Thanks. Sounds interesting.

I've played a couple of times as well.  I have the UNA reservists myself and I have 3 buddies who all have multiple factions.  I think the regular rules are pretty good - definitely lighter than Infinity but still very satisfying (but easier to pick up the rules or remember the rules than Infinity!).

One fun way to add a bit of spice to your force is to get into the Handlers.  They are solo units that are more interesting than powerful - and since you can mix and match them with your force you can really change stuff up.

I find the rules for the Dusters to be a bit lacking, but to each his own.

I finished this Heresy Miniatures Komodo Mech to use a duster.  I’m not really satisfied with how I painted it and it needs some more work but it’ll do for now.

It fits pretty well with the BLKOUT range:

I ordered the Harlow 1st Reaction Force to expand the faction.  Thanks for the advice on the Handlers, I’ll get some after I complete the next batch of miniatures.

I thought the same about the dusters, but thought it was just me and we didn’t play them correctly.  I lost my duster is a single round of shooting.

Wow, they do seem pretty big.

Could you post a comparason shot next to some of the usual supects? (Copplestone/Foundry Old School Citadel/Stargrave etc.)

Those looks great.

Thank you!

I got some of these EnderToys crates to make some objective markers or they can be used as some scatter terrain.  They aren’t the cleanest prints, but inexpensive.

Here’s a comparison with Stargrave and a Space Marine:

Thanks for that.

They look like they'd scale well with infinity figs or Zombicide, but they make the Stargrave figs look like abhuman stunties due their wierd proportions.

The collection continues to grow with the Harlow 1st Reaction Force.
