Question AK47 rules for Vietnam
« on: 07 June 2025, 08:31:37 PM »
Hello,

I have a question for those familiar with the AK47 rules from Peter Pig.  I plan to get the new version of the AK47 rules when they get published.

How useful are they to use in a Vietnam war setting?

Thanks

I do not know what changes Martin has made for the latest iteration, but based on the earlier ones I would say AK47 is not at all useful for Vietnam.

The set up, force structures and mechanics of AK47 will not capture the asymmetric nature of the conflict at all (unless you only want to play post US withdrawal).

There are far better options out there.

As someone who has played many games of AK47 I agree with robh.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

I agree with the others. AK47 (original version is what I play) is a great set of rules, but not for Vietnam.
Peter Pig do do a set for Vietnam, you might consider them. I think they are called, 'Boys from Company B'
