Those are both excellent scratch builds, I initially thought they were commercial models!

Those are both excellent scratch builds, I initially thought they were commercial models!

The smaller one is a Star Saga mini. I cut off all the tech on the tentacles then glued on leaves from a plastic plant; toughness and texture added with superglue and bicarbonate of soda.

The large one is a wooden bead with paperclip bits for the roots/leg, again superglue and bicarb bulk the roots out and provide texture. Pinned and glued the head of a Flail Snail model on with more plastic leaves.

You can see the unpainted thing here:

Had a couple of hours this afternoon so got out the pulpish vehicles I've bought and got them weathered up. I know they're from different time periods and even continents, but they'll give me the vibe I want.

Great collection of cars! Try to apply less weathering on the fancier cars though, 1920s gentlemen fired their chaffeur for much less.

I like the realistic look of the weathering. The die cast shine is too unnatural, and would disappear almost immediately when they drove down a dusty road, I would say...

Lovely work on those vehicles.  Will need to remember these when I start working on my own - 3D resin prints.  Great inspiration.

And I'd say don't worry about the varied sources.  The vibe is paramount and I think you've nailed the 24 penny nail all the way to the wood in a single hammer blow!  And, no, I have no idea if there are 24 penny nails, just think of a really big and long piece of metal.

Very nice job on the cars. Don't worry about the mix, after all it's not (really) historical. You wouldn't believe what they are driving around my fantasy/pulp Egypt! lol

That's a lovely finish on the cars. As with others I'm not worried about the historical era, more the overall look and atmosphere.

By the way, is this Bentley a "Models of Yesteryear" model?

It is indeed. I recall you have one but yours was quite damaged when you got it. This one was perfect and boxed until I turned it into a rusty old thing.

I thought so. Mind you when mine arrived here it's problems were just starting.

You've made me wonder if I should as a Union Flag now...
