Tap's Fallout Miniatures Starter Set finished 17.07.2021
« on: May 25, 2021, 03:04:02 PM »
Last year my eldest son bought me the Survivor X-01 and Dogmeat from Fallout which I duly painted up.

The Dogmeat miniature, even in resin, is not great but I do like the Survivor Power Suit and the miniature has had lots of adventures over the past 12 months.

Last month he got me the Unusual Allies pack and I've painted then up over the past couple of weeks.

So now I have a crew of 4 and am considering whether to run them in 5 Kilcks from the Zone, one of the generic rulesets I have or buy into Fallout; Wasteland Warfare.

The latter does seem a rabbit hole though which I'm not sure I want to go down.

Anyhow, here's the models painted (couldn't decide which I liked best from the Unusual Allies pics so you got both).

Nicely done! I do love the Fallout 4 aesthetics.

My youngest son bought me the Fallout Wasteland Warfare starter set for Father's Day.

Just got the Supermutants and Mutant Hounds painted; the plastic does lack the detail of resin but they have come out OK except for the one on the right who had barely any facial detail pre-priming. Had to apply the thinnest of primers just to get this bit.

As game pieces though I think they'll do fine.

Love the hounds. They look like demonic California Raisins!

Agree on the plastics only being so-so. Just one of the head-scratchers about that whole project.

😀

Yes, still not sure where to go with this. I'm erring on the side of using the starter set as is and the best of the collection in other games.

Was already in the early planning stages of  5 Klicks from the Zone; 5 Klicks from Fallout is a strong contender.

5 Klicks will work splendidly for Fallout. There are a number of mini-expansions out for 5K as well. At one point my own post-apoc table served as art in the 5K book. Not sure if it got updated since those early days.

Among some others, but yes...

I actually think that was my first game using the 5K rules.

Painted the Deathclaw from the starter set this morning; really happy with this one.

Just need to tidy up the base and glue a couple of tufts on to call this one done.

Painting frenzy this past 3 days has seen me get the remainder of the miniatures in the box finished.

These grey plastics were much poorer quality than the green ones I painted first but are still serviceable, especially for the boxed game itself.

I also got my old Armoured Dogmeat model out and tidied him up so he's useable too.
