@pixelgeek:
Weathering:
The bases are supposed to be Martian soil and the tank tracks are covered therefore in dried patches of dirt.
Here is the recipe:
1. Green Stuff World (Martian Soil)
2. Umber Wash (Vallejo)
3. Bright Orange (drybrush)
The orange particles are a mixture of weathering powder (Vallejo) which is supposed to represent dust. Here is the recipe:
1. Brown Iron Oxide
2. Dark Red Oxide
3. Dark Yellow Ochre
4. Rust
5. Natural Iron Oxide
Mixture volume is: 1:1:1:1:0.5 (Result should be a dark orange dust)

Choose a theme and run with it. And yes, the bases give the models personality. Since I have discovered texture paints in 2022 they are applied on nearly all of my newer models.
@ragsta:
Nice to hear my models let you consider doing some weathering too. There are a ton of different techniques out there for you to try.
@mmmgoodwin:
Choose a weathering which will stand out on your red TS and it will improve the look of your models.
