Peeve: FACEBOOK  ;)

My vote: smelly gamers. A group of my friends once did a timed pool for calling out “gamer funk” at an event; it was before the doors opened (my group was doing a table). So … a staff member. Ew. No names, it was a long time ago now. One of the crew I took with me, was known for being slovenly. So we did a group check - morning call, prior night shirt clean, shower check. Wasn’t going to be my crew.

My local “big shop” moved their card trading/sales area to its own entrance - there is something even worse about TCG gamers than miniature gamers, somehow.

Soap. Shampoo. Laundry. It’s NOT THAT HARD.

Yeah, amusingly that was my issue with the first overall round.  People mistook "pet peeves" for..."basic fundamentals of human social interaction", etc.

To me, a pet peeve is something that bugs you...but that even you realize is being a little "picky".  It may be prefaced by a statement such as, "I know it's weird...but damn I can't stand when...".

Someone being a huge douchebag, or being smelly (ran into that yesterday at the store)...isn't a pet peeve.  It's a legitimate gripe.  You're not weird if you want to interact with mature, hygienic human beings who can hold a conversation for more than two minutes without panicking.

Round 2 : Match Up 2

I've been banging on (and being completely ignored 😆) about this being a World Cup of Pet Hates and everyone keeps going full out hate, there is so much anger out there, my next Podcast may well be Whale Song to calm people down 😆

Having said that, both of today's nominations are real Hates of mine !

Points Battles - to quote Winston Churchill "Never in the field of human conflict have 2 generals added up so many points to make a Battle even" I played a few points based games against a competition player at my old club, you may have heard me mention Mad Angus McMadmurderer on the Podcast. I have played scenarios ever since.

Rules Lawyers - proved popular in the first round, they tend to be the sort of people who you only play once. We all need to know the rules but we don't need to avoid historical tactics and fun to spin the rules so we win a GAME.

Could be a close one this, so let's have your votes, 3 days to as Bucks Fizz said "Make Your Mind Up"

Points battles, so common, not the worst.

Rules Lawyers? Right up there with real lawyers. THE WORST!

No contest, it’s the Rules Lawyer that wins (loses?) this round.

Maybe, maybe not.
Points based systems, as a way of working out a broadly similar sized force, not so bad.
Points based players, who min/max their army, then charge units based on the targets points total and, to make matters worse, keep a running total of points won vs points lost on a turn by turn basis. Well, they can be irritating beyond belief.

Agreed on the min/max type of competitive players - which are rather different from the normal, points based for easy balance for a pick up game type of gamer.

Maxing out points lists got knocked out in Round 1 by Unpainted Miniatures on the table  :)

Points based battles I am fine with. These are games and points are a mechanism to give each side an equal chance of winning. Doesn't always work.

Min-maxing army lists to squeeze out every possible advantage with little or no regard as to plausible force compositions? I class that with rules lawyering. It is trying to manipulate the mechanics of the game for advantage, playing by the strict letter rather than the spirit. Usually to the detriment of the enjoyment of everyone else at the table.

Rules Lawers are definitely worse than points games.
