Some little MaK kits. Oskar 1/76
« on: June 27, 2025, 08:38:13 PM »
As a treat to myself (after thinking I had some spare cash but before the cat needed to go to the vet ) I ordered three lovely 1:76 maschinen krieger resin kits from a japanese maker called Tenbowkissa.

The first of these I built over the last couple of days, making the base yesterday and kit today. I initially wanted to have them removable for possible future gaming uses but they are FAR too delicate.

Pre weathering camo - GW contrast paints work very well for this kind of thing - thin enough to flow well but thick enough to control.

Very nice. Don’t start buying the 1/20th kits , they’re addictive.
There is a large range of 15mm Mak available from Slave to Gaming, lovely they are too, however I’m already a fan boy of the big kits (and books, the books are brill!).

Superb work. I've always liked the MaK aesthetic and the whole universe it resides in. Really gritty and (dare I say) realistic. And this piece perfectly embodies that 8)

Even though it's not at all connected, for some reason, this reminds me that I've always wanted to start a small Word War Robot force...

Thankyou for the kind words everyone. I have some 1/76 gustav suits on my desk at the moment and they are lovely little things. I just need to build a base for them so I can figure out how to paint them.

I started work on the gustav suits the other day - these are lovely little things cast just as cleanly as the oskar. I'm basing these on 15mm acrylic disks so I can integrate them into a scenic display. these probably would work for gaming purposes as they have less fragile little joints.

Golly that looks good!

I have to admit this makes me want to take a shot at those 15mm MaK figures from slave 2 gaming.

I also want to get my mits on some of the 15mm stuff - At the very least the nutrocker as I don't have room for a full size 1/32 scale one.

Lovely work

This one makes me a bit nostalgic.  It is the only MAK kit that I ever managed to buy at the shops back in the 80s.  Took me months to work up the nerve to build and paint it.  Outstanding work.  Is there a UK distributor or is this an import only?

Wow, haven't seen these MaK kits in ages. I think there are a couple of companies that import small numbers to the UK but not the whole range: japan-cool.uk is probably the best source for the kits although a few resin prints are on Etsy.
Love the 15mm figures though - I'd love to get some of those but postage from Australia is likely to scupper that idea. Now if someone was to import THOSE lovely models into the UK I could see myself getting some.

Imported from Japan via tenrico. The prices and shipping are really reasonable.

For the full size kits I know there are some importers in the EU like : https://www.hobbytime.nl/producten/hasegawa/sciencefiction/maschinenkrieger?ps=24

But yeah far as I know Slave2Gaming doesnt have any distribution outside their own store, which is sad. Understandable, mind you, I've known multiple smaller miniature companies that tried to become distributors of each others product, but even just to break even (no profit!) the price of the models would increase enough that it would still not be cheaper then getting it from their source directly. And that's not to mention storage and stock levels needed.
