What height for 28mm chain link fences?

Okay, so here’s a question that has been bothering me- what height to model chain link fences for games using 28mm figures?

I looked up the regulations for the city I want to represent, and 2m is the maximum in areas that don’t have special zoning. So, what looks right for 2m next to a 28mm figure? I’ll be basing the fences, so that should cancel out the added height from the figure’s base.

Advice from anyone who has made chain link fences would be appreciated!

Well, 2 meters is about 1.4" in 28mm (1/56).  So, I'd round it off to 1.5"...I think that's about what mine are...

Plus it all depends on what you can find - I'm using printed plastic metal mesh fencing (slightly different style from chain link, made in prebuilt panels) from an Ebay seller, you can probably get similar stl files or printed fence panels. And of course, unless you're printing your own, you're really buying what they consider 28mm fencing to be.

That all makes sense. I think I may just keep it simple and go with 40mm - it’s a little taller than 1.5x the 1/56 scale 2m, but it is close and things like 1/48 cars tend to fit okay with 28mm figures.

For the mesh, I have some wire form mesh that looks suitable.
