We Led the Way - Rangers at Gela 1943 - New Photos
« on: 21 July 2025, 09:57:07 PM »

We had a fantastic time at Historicon this year running a bunch of games featuring the Rangers in Sicily, 1943. Great players, great games, and some really fun moments on the table. I grabbed a few photos of the action—sharing here in case anyone’s interested in checking them out.

For those curious, the games are part of a project we’ve been working on about the Ranger landings at Gela, which we just launched on Kickstarter. It’s mostly a scenario book, with some optional STL files for figures. No big production or gimmicks—just some solid, classic wargaming content. If you like this kind of stuff, you might enjoy having a look.

I complemented this gentleman on FB on his buildings for this game.
I was amazed to find they were all scratch built by him.
Outstanding job.

Darby in a Jeep – Just two days left to back the Kickstarter.

This STL, sculpted by the talented Matt Webb, brings to life a moment straight out of the 1943 invasion of Sicily. It features Colonel William O. Darby—rifle in hand—riding in a jeep just as he did in Gela, racing across the front lines to rally his Rangers and hold the line.

One of the most iconic moments from the battle? Darby personally took control of a 37mm anti-tank gun to help stop an Italian armored thrust into the town. That spirit of leadership and grit is captured in this beautifully detailed model.
We’ve printed and painted the STL, and we think it turned out great—we’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
Only 2 days left to back the Kickstarter!

Don't miss your chance to add Darby and the rest of the Rangers to your collection.

Also as part of the Kickstarter we have created the Gela Bunkers in STL so you can print them out! Here is a painted up one.

That urban layout is simply awe-inspiring. I may have missed it, but what scale is the game in?
