18mm 3D Printed Aliens
« on: August 06, 2025, 03:44:11 PM »
This is my take on these Papsikels Aliens .

These

They're very nice minis if a bit fragile at the legs , so I modeled a tail out of putty to make them sturdier.

I tried to paint them as if they're phasing from shadow to light. Human figure is an 18mm for scale.

Thanks for your comments.

Those are really cool. I like the sculpts (they remind me of the exoskeletons in Independance Day), but I totally understand the added tails; those ankles look eminently breakable.

The paintscheme is what really shines though; the subtle colours add to the alien feel of them; great work :)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

They're interesting figs, but your painting brings out the best in them, great colour choices.

Thank you both.
They are indeed nice minis.
Pity that they're not metal as the double ankles and knees are a nightmare in resin, which is why I printed them in that size
and why I decided to sculpt the tail out of putty to shore them up as 2 of them broke off.  :-[

Would a make nice home away or Kill team.

The paint scheme is mostly wet on wet using contrast paint & inks.
The base is painted & blended crackle medium.

These are great miniatures that are brilliantly painted :) . The changing hues on the skin(?) makes a particularly effective scheme.

Proper job!

Thank you Inso.
Skin (?) Now that IS an interesting question. Hadn't thought of it.
Model wise it would make sense to be a sort of exoskeleton/chiton otherwise the creature would be puny.

Another idea came to mind, one could use the feet/legs ( and I like the design very much ) to kitbash a hound (?)/ companion.
They would also be good as a basis for a chaos spawn, especially if made bigger.

Those look great! Large and tall aliens just look menacing.
