Poem by a Young Viking
« on: August 07, 2025, 01:38:03 AM »
Saw this in a Reykjavik museum, written by a 6 year old Viking a millennium ago https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2025/08/poem-by-young-viking.html
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Ah yes, I thought it might be him; Egill, son of the dusk-wolf.

I listened to those words sung a thousand times, but never knew they originated from the real Viking past. Thank you!  :)

I like the museum's translation better than the one in the songs. He gets a Viking boat, not a galley. Such a Mediterranean craft wouldn't last long in the Atlantic. And he's not after his enemies, just whoever gets in his way.  ;)
