As part of a series of posts compiled by a friend of mine looking at the fleets of the Anglo-Dutch War and fighting the battles in 1:1200 using General at Sea, I have posted Steve's play through of the opening engagement of the Battle of Lowestoft fought on the 13th June 1665 some forty miles off the Suffolk coast.

The game illustrates some of the issues faced by commanders of these often large fleets, composed of a mix of so called ships of the line and hired merchantmen, as well as the challenge they pose to tabletop commanders.

Love anything of this period - what minis are you using? Langton?

Regardless, they are spectacular.

Hi and thank you.

Yes the miniatures are indeed from the excellent range from Rod Langton.
