Fourth Anglo-Dutch War
« on: 17 December 2010, 02:01:30 AM »
Hullo all,

I think this should go here, but if not, then please do move it...

A friend and I are considering playing some skirmish games based upon the various conflicts on the Indian subcontinent during the American Revolutionary war period, centring on the Fourth Anglo-Dutch war in particular. We're pretty ignorant of this period, so what I'm basically asking for here is any information you may have on it, as well as ideas/suggestions for figures to use. I have no idea at all how the Dutch were attired/equipped, so any pointers there would be much appreciated, too.
Bit of a vague post, I know...

Thanks
I told you so. You damned fools.

I am said ignorant friend, and also new here.

What-ho!

After some East India/British 28mms here, so if any can be suggested that would be lovely
\\\"Oh dear,\\\" said God, \\\"I hadn\\\'t thought of that,\\\" and promptly vanished in a puff of logic.

Go to the Vinkhuijzen online collection of uniform plates at the NYPD. It has an extensive coverage of the Dutch.

You'll find that for some, in the older style uniforms the Eureka WAS Dutch would work as would some of their SYW Saxons. For the rest, suitable ACW figures will work. As for the sepoys? Not sure but your choices are fairly limited there anyway.

Ah, of course, thanks, I'd forgotten about that site.

Just to expand upon my opening post (which was posted at 3AM, students, eh? ::)), we're mainly looking for suggestions for 1780s Indians (Mysore), Dutchmen (VOC), French and British (EIC) in God's Own Scale (28mm).

Also, more generally, suggestions for a rule set would also be much appreciated.

I'll just correct my esteemed colleague there, Madras sepoys please - not Mysore! Although, to be brutally honest good sepoy models are so hard to come by, I'm not going to be picky over which of the three armies they're from.

Are you talking about the British conquest of Ceylon?

No, that's a couple of decades later, although it's probably still relevant.
