A meandering 'Epic' Horus Heresy build.
« on: 15 September 2025, 06:50:07 PM »
I enjoyed 'proper' Epic as a kid, lost interest with the late 90's version, and then was happy to see some 'semi-epic' stuff coming out for the new Legions Imperialis line.

I was non-plussed with the typical GW prices, but when I found several boxes on eBay for 50% off, I took the plunge to grab and build some.  Having watched a few battle reports of the actual game, I won't be playing that...so these will go into a box until I find another game or write a game to play with them.

This project likely won't grow beyond random deals that I find on eBay as the prices for LI stuff are pretty absurd.

Some of the Leman Russes have 3D printed turrets as I preferred them to the plastic ones.

Very nicely done.

I have to say we very much have enjoyed Legions Imp (after having played many versions of Epic including home brew versions). We have largely played with existing figures, and lots of 3d prints. The points are a bit wonky, and the slow drip feed of units is a bit annoying, but it lets you play big games in a decent time.

Looks great! I probably would have bought into it at half price too, but I could bring myself to buy into it after seeing how much it cost to build a decent army. I backed Mantic’s Epic instead. That said it is nice to see lots of small scale stuff in production.

Yeah, I have my eye on a few 3D print options for a couple more units, and my buddies have some LI starter boxes they picked up, so it'll be enough to play something, but I can't justify buying more stuff - even at the normal 'discount' you get on eBay.  I got the two tank boxes for $29 a pop?  I just won't be getting more until I find someone else ditching their collection, lol.

Awesome stuff! Like the muted scheme quite a bit.
