I'm aware of two manufacturers that produce late 19th century italians:

Strategia & tattica
Bicorne

Are we talking Bersaglieri or Alpini?

How about Bicorne http://www.bicorne.net/catalog/index.php/cPath/292_1_27

I think he`s after the cockfeathered Bersaglieri, they are quite iconic of the italian army through the last centuries

I have some S&T that were given to me free as they were not upto scratch for their previous owner - I have done nothing with them either. Shame really as their are some nice ideas amongst them, especially the Alpini.

The Bicorne are very nice. I have a mixed bag for an Italian army that I will probably never get to paint, which is a shame. Some Bersaglieri and also others with different feathers in the helmets - Cacciatore I think.

I might put them on e-bay at some stage.

Some excellent uniform prints here:

if you are not aware of them already.

If you need Italians in Europe (i.e. non colonials) you may find them from Mirliton (historicals):
http://www.mirliton.it/index.php?cName=historical-2528mm

they are colourful armies

Redoubt also has some nice Italians in their Boxer Rebellion range. These are superior to the Bicorne Italians I have, IMHO...

I'd like to see some in non-colonial attire. Something for fighting on the continent of Europe.

The only source I know is the one already indicated:

If you need Italians in Europe (i.e. non colonials) you may find them from Mirliton (historicals):
http://www.mirliton.it/index.php?cName=historical-2528mm

they are colourful armies

When you are in the above link you must select "Italian Indip. Wars" and  you have 4 choices:
Austrians
Kingfom of Naples
Papal States
Piedmontese italian

the latter is the larger range and maybe the most colourful one. You can find Bersaglieri, garibaldini, carabinieri etc etc.
Unfortunately the Mirliton's website has only photos, so you need to search in google for "Risorgimento" and you will see lots of colourful uniforms. You may also search for the uniforms of Carabinieri or  bersaglieri in their websites. Alas, to my best knowledge most of the sites are in Italian. Hope that you can find some insteresting subjects.

Please note that most if not all the figures produced by Strategia e Tattica. Bicorn and redoubt are in colonial  helmets .
Redoubt apart the bersaglieri in colonial helmet  has  some sailors, too.
Old Glory has a pack of Italian sailors  in their Boxer rebellion range
http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com/proddetail.asp?prod=CBP%2D14&cat=228
also their naval artillery crew pack contains some that could be pressed in service for Italians (since this is a random pack having french/english/german and other nations sailors, what you actually receive is pure luck)
http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com/proddetail.asp?prod=CBP%2D09&cat=228

As an alternative you can use ACW in kepis, which make ideal "Garibaldi red shirts" .
